LDS Units would like me to help you make custom topo
maps for your outback adventures, let me know. I will
do this for any of the Poway Stake Scouting units for
no charge.
I have the entire set of California
topo maps on my computer. You can define the trails
you will be hiking and the software will show you
the mileage, the elevation (gain and loss) as well
as GPS coordinates and other map features.
I can email you a custom map, tailored
for your outing, or give it to you on a CD. You can
print them yourself or get them printed as large
as you want at Kinko's (although their prices for
large size color prints are very high ~$7/sq. foot,
large b&w printing is pretty reasonable).
You can also get them printed on spacial
paper that is water and tear resistent.
